A majority of the material within the first few years of the 1920's concerns Greenfield's real estate business. It primarily consists of correspondence with tenants concerning rental contracts and with various contractors regarding repair work. There are inter-office memoranda dispersed throughout the entire collection. Greenfield's files start to reflect other business ventures around 1923. The files also become more subject oriented and begin to expand. The material Greenfield saved not only included information on his own business interests but on his competitors as well. There are numerous clippings and financial statements on various. banks, real estate firms, stores and building and loan associations. The latter half of the decade contains material pertaining to the inception of Greenfield's Bankers Trust Company, Bankers Bond & Mortgage Company and Bankers Securities Company. There is also a large amount of material on Benjamin Frankin Hotel, the St. James Hotel, Lit Brothers, Almar Stores Company, the construction of the Greenfield and Equitable Buildings, Philadelphia Rapid Transit Company, Baldwin Locomotive Works and Fox Theatrical Enterprises. During this period, Greenfield began to be active in many charitable and civic organizations such as the Federation of Jewish Charities and the Young Men's Hebrew Association. He also donated to Catholic charities, which were acknowledge with personal thank you notes from Dennis Cardinal Dougherty. In 1929, Greenfield was recognized for his benefactions and services to the Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia by being bestowed with the rank of Commander of the Order of Pius IX by the Pope. Other commendations included appointments to the Board of City Trusts, Mayor Harry Mackey's Committee on Contracts, Chairman of the finance committee of the Sesqui-Centennial celebration, Trustee of the National Farm School and Temple University, and the Chamber of Commerce's Conventions and Exhibitions Committee.
